Fairhope Family Session

This Fairhope family session was so sweet and dreamy. It made for the perfect session to give you all some styling tips that will hopefully be helpful for your future session. So let’s jump into it. Here are a few things that can really make a difference when it comes to wardrobe styling for your family photos.

Styling tips for your family session

• First and foremost, you DO NOT want everyone to match. I know, I know dressing everyone in matching white tees used to be a thing, but lets leave that in the past shall we. No you don’t want to get to crazy with it and dress mom in red, dad in purple, sister in pink and brother in blue. I find it best to pick your main shade/color. So here we will use blue for example. I always tell mom to pick her outfit first then we will style the rest of the family to be cohesive with her. So here mom wore a blue and white pattern dress. Since mom was in a pattern I wanted to keep the rest of the family in solids, we do not want to many patterns where things start to look to busy and become a distraction from the main focus of the images. • Then the next thing to look at is colors, since mom was in blue and white we wanted to use the rest of the family to pull some more shades of blue mixed with creams and whites. Creams and whites are pretty much guaranteed to always be a safe secondary or even main color in your families wardrobe, there really is not any color they do not pair nicely with. As far as for the blue, the other family members shades of blue do not have to be spot on with moms. They do need to be in the same shade range, but they could be a little darker or lighter than moms shade of blue.

• Next tip is that I always suggest going a little more dressy with your wardrobe when it comes to your session. A dressier wardrobe can really elevate your images. So for mommas I recommend a nice flowy dress, having movement in your dress can add a sweet touch to your images. For dads I tend to recommend a dress pant paired with a button up or polo and if you wanted to do a little something extra adding in a blazer is a nice touch.

• And one last little tip! Wear something you feel confident in! This is something I highly recommend, especially to my mommas. If you do not feel confident in what your wearing that is going to show in your images, rather if your wearing something that makes you feel confident and beautiful that confidence and beauty will radiate in your photos!
